Hi lani rn, I've never worked with Steve, but I've used Access Nurses for years and couldn't be happier. I'm working in Mass. right now, and my assignment is great. Are you looking at any other companies? I talked to a lot of other recruiters before deciding to work with Access, which is so important. I wanted to make sure I was with the best company for my situation. Good luck finding a company. Let me know if you have any other questions. I've had a lot of experience travel nurse company hunting. --Joe

thanks joe-i haven't talked to any other companies yet; i guess i am still in the phase of figuring out what i really want to do. I've only been a nurse for 2 years so i don't really think i have enough experience yet to travel. I am thinking maybe i'll find a semi permanent position in an OR and get some experience that way (1&1/2 years float pool, 11 mos OR). who knows! thanks for your input tho, any more is much appreciated!

Hi again! I think most companies like their travel nurses to have at least a year or two of experience...so it sounds like you're there. I understand wanting to build up the resume a little bit though. It's good that you're looking into companies early. Then they can keep you in mind when they hear about positions opening up that you'd be interested in. If the company doesn't communicate well...lose them. Let your recruiter do the work of looking for the jobs, then you do the work of interviewing well. LOL! Where do you want to go by the way?

I am pretty much up for anything- my husband and i want to get out of washington for a while, but eventually come back here. Australia would be my dream, hopefully that will happen in a couple years (if we don't start having kids). Any suggestions?

Oh, I want to get to Washington eventually. My friend just moved to Seattle, but I also love Bremerton and Spokane. I think the weather in Washington is beautiful...call me crazy...but I like the rain. But since it's warming up around the country...you can really go anywhere and it'll be nice. I've heard Florida is great (maybe a little hot for summer though). I took an assignment in Colorado last year and it was amazing. I want to go everywhere, so every state has it's own appeal to me. Since it's only three months at a time, I want to try bolder locations from now on. Maybe Louisianna, Tennessee, Maine or Oregon. I guess it depends on what you're looking for...weather, culture, peace and quiet, big city...you know? I'll help you brainstorm some ideas if you want. Is your husband a nurse too?

I love love love Access Nursing. They haven't let me down yet. In fact, when I was fired due to unfounded gossip, their nurse laison went to bat for me. I didnt' get the job back, but the agency kept me as an employee without any punishment. Since they put me in an assignment right away, I didnt' even owe the cost of living expenses.

My recruiter is Ally and she is awesome.

I can always get hold of my recruiter, my travel laison, and my payroll person. In fact, aly calls every Friday just to see how things are going.
